Cleantech Challenge is a clean technology oriented b-plan competition organized by Entrepreneurship Cell, IIT Kharagpur. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it is the first of its kind in India.

What is Cleantech?
Clean Technology or "Cleantech" is a term used to describe companies and business models that use innovative technology to create economically viable products and services that offer competitive returns for investors and customers, while providing solutions to global problems. It refers to products and services that improve operational performance, productivity or efficiency while reducing costs, inputs, energy consumption, waste or pollution. They are expected to help our society move away from a dependence on non-renewable fuels and foster a healthy natural environment.

Why Cleantech?
Over the past few years, there has been an increasing awareness of the need and importance of finding ways to reduce mankind's negative ecological impact. Huge investments are being made in this industry and that means plenty of start-up opportunities. Keeping this in mind, Ecell IIT Kharagpur has taken the initiative of conducting a cleantech business plan competition to help accelerate the process of turning a budding idea into a fully-fledged functioning company.
